Just the
other day, I was at a friend’s house sipping coffee and discussing
the marvels of the Internet. With the advent of the World Wide Wed,
life has become a piece of cake. I cannot think which industry it
has NOT benefited. Take for instance the office printing business.
There was a time when I paid several visits first to the design
houses and then the printing fellows for a simple letterhead or a
business card that I wanted printed. But not anymore… Now it’s as
simple as logging in the Internet, selecting the letterhead or
business card design of your choice, and placing an order. No back
and forth with design houses or printing press - you can get all
that you want with just a click of a few buttons.
My friend
was interested in the websites that offered office printing
services. He was starting up a new firm and needed the whole gamut
of office stationery. From letterheads, business cards, brochures,
flyers, folders and more. So I decided to take him on a tour of
iPrint.com and
VistaPrint.com
My friend
was new at this so I needed to explain the concept to him first. It
works like this…
Both these
websites cater to almost all forms of office print work. So first
select the category for which you want some printing work done.
Let’s say – letterheads. So, select letterheads on the website. When
you do so, a page containing templates of several letterhead designs
will display. That’s right – template is the keyword. These websites
have templated designs for all their products. From the letterhead
designs that display, select a layout or design that you like. Most
of these designs have placeholder text and logo for layout purposes.
You can replace them with your own company logo and text.
“What if I
don’t like their template design?” asked my friend. No problems. If
you don’t like any of the existing designs, you can even upload your
own customized designs.
The
templated approach works on a WYSIWYG format. “What on earth is
that?” asked my friend in bewilderment. It’s quite a popular
terminology being used these days for design/print work done through
the Internet. It stands for ‘What You See Is What You Get’. This is
extremely useful when there is no human interface. Once you select a
template, upload your own text and logo, you can preview the outcome
before placing the order. This way you know the outcome will be
exactly what you want.
“Interesting, very interesting” my friend remarked. “And the same
process applies to any other product/service I want, right?” That’s
right. They all work pretty much the same way. Not only is the whole
process of ordering easy and convenient, the cost is also minimal.
In fact, online stores like iPrint.com and VistaPrint.com also
offers some fabulous discounts against coupons and promo codes.
Vistaprint.com also
offers coupon-b.net some exclusive coupons which shoppers can
save up to 75% off. It is like having a sale on a sale – who
wouldn’t be interested?
