Review of Best Credit Card Offers
Credit Card websites that help you find credit cards
typically suffer from the same problem – too many choices, too much fine
print disclosure, and too much information.
To “keep it simple” for you, I have researched many
credit card websites, and listed my personal favorite credit cards along
with how I use each credit card to maximize cash back rewards.
The top 3 credit cards have unlimited cash back accrual, no annual fee, require good credit, require that you pay your bill on time (or else you could lose your accrued cash back with some of these credit cards) and some may require you to “request” your cash back reward (rather than an automatic credit to your account or check mailed to you).
My Top 3 Choices:
1. Chase Business Rebate Visa Card (1% to 3% cash back on select categories)
Earn 1% cash back for general purchases, and 3% cash back at restaurants, office supply stores, gas stations, and home improvement stores.
If you spend a lot of money eating out at restaurants or at these specific categories,
this is a good one for you.
2. American Express Blue (1.25% to 5% cash back on select categories after spending $6,500)
Earn 1.5% cash back for general purchases, and 5% cash back at supermarkets, gas stations, and drugstores.
So if you spend over approximately $15K/year, this card could maximize your cash back rewards (depending upon your spending categories). However, the “catch” is that, for the first $6,500 of annual purchases, the cash back is only 1% for supermarkets, gas stations, and drugstores and 0.50% for all other purchases. But if you spend a lot of money and want to get approximately 1.5% cash back,
this is a good one for you.
3. Capital One No Hassle Rewards (1.25% cash back on all purchases)
Earn 1% cash back on all purchases, plus 0.25% annual bonus. Choose this credit card to “keep it simple” and get more cash back than the common 1% cash back credit cards without thinking about specific category purchases or minimum spending amounts.
GET ALL 3 CARDS AND LABEL EACH CARD TO REMEMBER HOW TO USE THEM.
If you can remember which card to use, and if you don’t mind carrying multiple credit cards in your purse or wallet, do what I do – use the card with the highest cash back for each purpose.
If you can’t remember, add a label to each card by category:
- Capital One – 1.25% general personal spending
- Chase – 3% restaurants, office supplies, hardware stores
- Amex Blue – 5% supermarkets, gas stations & drugstores, 1.5% business spending
- Advanta – 5% utilities, office supplies, electronics, computers, online advertising
