The Best Day Of My Life
After a long year of too much work and not enough enjoyment, I look forward to the holiday season for many reasons. It is a time of reflection on the past year and I try to focus on all of the good fortune that I have had this year, while the problems and tribulations that I’ve suffered through become less of a burden and with time blur into the past of “last year” once January 1st arrives. A year older, a year wiser and hopefully a year richer in spirit and soul.
As I look into my child’s innocent eyes, I try to remember that everyday with my family is the best day of my life and I should be thankful for all that we have. And as I ponder, I realize that life is too short not to enjoy every year and holiday season. Even better, we should all strive to enjoy every day of our lives because you never know when your last day may be.
For the same reason, you should let your family, friends and loved ones know how much you care about them and love them every time you see or talk with them. And if you are the kind of person that does not really express themselves openly with words, you can send gifts, flowers, jewelry or even a simple card to communicate your feelings and thoughts to your friends and family during the holiday season.
And while you are in the giving mood, don’t forget to give some gifts to yourself. While I know it is supposed to be “better to give than to receive”, I like to receive gifts as much as the next person. And if there is something on your holiday wish list, why not go out and buy it, wrap it up, and give it to yourself? You are sure to like the gift and it will probably fit just perfectly. And if it turns out you don’t like it after all, you will have the receipt and you can return it after the holidays and get something else you want for yourself.
Although everyone needs to save money for a rainy day, we still need to live and enjoy life to the max everyday because whenever your time comes, you cannot take it with you and someone else will enjoy what you leave behind. So reflect upon the year, remind everyone about the true spirit of the holidays, and strive for Peace on Earth and Goodwill Toward All Men (and women, children and animals).
